Every community faces problems and the Dayton metro area is no different. LEAD works with community members to identify these problems, research possible solutions, and build the people power need to make systemic change.

Miami Valley VOTES

Picture
Miami Valley VOTES  is a coalition of organizations and individuals who believe that voting is central to our democracy and needs everyone to vote.  The coalition is dedicated to building greater participation in the voting process by:
  • registering people to vote
  • providing voter information
  • helping to get out the vote

Parent Engagement
Project

A pilot program is currently underway at the Westwood PreK-6 Community School in the Westwood community where the parents have identified childhood trauma as the issue they want to address.

Through regular weekly meetings since September 2018, the parents have done research on childhood trauma, its impact on child development, its affect on educational development and the emerging local and national movement toward development of trauma-sensitive schools.

Community Conversations...A Listening Campaign
LEAD is launching a new multi-year campaign built around the question:  What is the important issue or crisis here in Dayton that we need to work on?

Our current political climate, mixed with “in your face” problems - systemic racism, gun violence, the need for criminal justice reform, the need for environmental justice, the need for affordable housing - that confront us on local, state, and national levels make it impossible to ignore the rough seas ahead, especially as we approach the 2020 election year.  We want to organize…We want to build power…We want a strong united voice.

And we need a thorough grounding in the values, concerns, and energy of those who make up our neighborhoods and community.
